Comharchumann Forbartha Chorca Dhuibhne (CFCD): Bunaíodh CFCD i 1967 chun cur le saol sóisialta, eacnamaíoch agus cultúrtha phobal na Gaeltachta i gCorca Dhuibhne. Is eagraíocht sheachbhrabúsach sinn a fheidhmíonn ar mhaithe leis an bpobal. Ó 1967 i leith tá ról lárnach ag an gComharchumann i bhforbairt gheilleagar na leithinse, ag gníomhú thar ceann a scairshealbhóirí agus ar mhaithe le
muintir Chorca Dhuibhne.

An Chartlann:

Tá saibhreas ar leith ag baint le leithinis Chorca Dhuibhne agus ba mhór againn an saibhreas sin a roinnt libh agus blaiseadh a thabhairt daoibh den saol atá de shíor ag athrú agus cuimhní ag sleamhnú uainn.

Cuireadh tús leis an dtionscadal seo i 2024 chun grianghraif le céad bliain anuas a bhailiú ó phobal Chorca Dhuibhne agus cartlann ar líne le rochtain oscailte a bhunú. Le tacaíocht ón gComhairle Oidhreachta, d’éirigh linn na grianghraif ar an suíomh seo a bhailiú ón bpobal agus iad a chlárú agus na sonraí inchuardaithe cuí a chur leo. Is tionscadal fiúntach, luachmhar é seo ar mhaithe le taifead ar stair shóisialta an cheantair a bhailiú agus a chaomhnú agus a chur ar fáil do thaighdeoirí, stairithe, antraipeolaithe nó d’éinne gur suim leo iad. Is tionscadal leanúnach é seo chomh maith agus beimid ag cur leis an gcartlann go rialta agus go leanúnach.

Táimid go mór faoi chomaoin ag pobal na leithinse as ucht a gcuid flaithiúlachta lena ngrianghraif phearsanta. Murach an
comhoibriú ó mhuintir Chorca Dhuibhne, ní bheadh an chartlann seo ann. Tá taifead buan ar shaol na leithinse anois againn ar fáil do chách. Bainigí sásamh agus tairbhe as!

Tá gach iarracht déanta na sonraí cuí a bheith luaite leis na grianghraif. Sa chás go bhfuil eolas míchruinn tugtha againn ar an suíomh seo trí dhearúd, ár leithscéal faoi sin. Tá bosca moltaí ag bun gach grianghraf agus cuirfimid fáilte roimh mholtaí ón bpobal maidir le grianghraif.

Who We Are

Comharchumann Forbartha Chorca Dhuibhne Teo (CFCD) was founded in 1967 to develop and improve the social, economic and cultural life of the people of Corca Dhuibhne, the largest Gaeltacht community in Munster. Since 1967 the Comharchumann has played a key role in the development of the peninsula’s economy, acting on behalf of its shareholders
and for the benefit of the people of Corca Dhuibhne.

The Archive:

The Corca Dhuibhne Gaeltacht is a unique area with a vast wealth of riches, including our literary history, our language, folklore, music, arts, and stunning landscape and we would love to share some of this wealth with you through this photographic archive and give you a taste of a life that is constantly changing.

This project was started in 2024 with the aim of collecting photographs from the past century from the Corca Dhuibhne community and establishing an open access online archive. With the support of the Heritage Council, we managed to collect and register the photographs on this site from the local community and add the appropriate searchable metadata. This is a worthwhile and valuable project with the purpose of collecting and preserving a record of the social history of the area and making it available to researchers, historians, anthropologists or anyone who is interested in this area. This is also an ongoing project and we will be adding to the archive regularly in the future.

We are greatly indebted to the local community for their generosity with their photographs. If it weren’t for the collaboration of the Corca Dhuibhne community, this archive would not exist. We now have a permanent record of life on the peninsula available to all. We hope you enjoy it.
